We re-form the flat roof lip edging and paint the re-felted roof with reflective aluminium coating. This will reflect the sun, to counter the drying effect of the sun’s rays on the new roof. The aluminium coating is also a water proof coating, giving further protection to the new flat roof from the elements.
Here we have stripped off the roof tiles and removed the battening and the old roof felt.
We re-felted the roof with breathable felting and re- battened it, allowing an overhang for dry verge to be applied, following re-tiling. The dry verge is added to stop the rain from driving in under the replacement tiles. It also prevents birds from entering and causing problems.

In this image you can see where we have replaced the roof tiles and re-installed new lead flashing around the chimney.

Here we can see that the roof has been completely re-tiled and the ridge tiles replaced with new ridge tiles which we re-bed, using sand and cement.

When completing a re-roofing project it is usually necessary to replace the fascias, soffits and guttering, followed by the dry verge.
When replacing soffits and fascias we are usually replacing weathered timber. We normally recommend uPVC replacement soffits fascias and gutters. The uPVC requires no painting, simply cleaning maintenance. Our soffits are vented, to enable the roof to breathe. The uPVC soffits fascias and guttering are available in white, black, red, rosewood and light oak. White is the lowest cost, as all other colours have to be foil backed.
