Controversy over New Planning Permission Rules

Posted: 2012-09-12, in category: Uncategorized

There are mixed feelings about a change to government legislation regarding planning permission. Due to the change homeowners will be able to build loft extensions and conservatories without waiting months for planning permission. Planning permission will not be required at all unless extensions exceed 8 metres from the rear wall, formerly 4 metres. The regulations are designed to increase the amount of housing being built by reducing barriers, putting the planning system in a better light.

Organisations such as the Local Government Association lay the blame for prevention of building at the feet of financing bodies rather than planning regulations.

The new relaxation of rules is being introduced almost at the same time as the energy efficient Green Deal prompting criticism that the positive impact of the Green Deal will be undermined.

It is a great idea to save energy spent looking around for different companies to carry out work, with all the pitfalls and worry about quality standards etc. SJP Builders Wigan provide a comprehensive range of building services delivered by highly skilled tradesmen. SJP Builders are a member of the Guild of Master Craftsmen, in addition to being FENSA and NICEIC registered, Trust Mark and Gas Safe approved.
