At SJP Builders we are finding more and more people are making contact seeking help and advice to rectify shoddy, poor and unsafe work that rogue traders have carried out in their homes.
Domestic construction is not regulated by law, so cowboys can call themselves tradesmen, get some tools and a van and start trading. These people just trade in misery and upset and we regularly see the trauma caused to innocent, unsuspecting home owners.
At SJP we are frequently called in to tackle poor workmanship and put right the shocking and sometimes dangerous work they leave in their wake.
We recently visited a young family who had fallen victim to cowboys. They had built an extension to their home and installed the whole roof below the stipulated minimum pitch and also used the wrong roof tiles. This major defect only came to light when the local authority officer would not sign the work off as complete. The really sad thing was that the customer had paid in full and the cowboys had gone and refused to return to correct their work..
We undertook the correctional works, liaising with the local authority. We adjusted the roof pitch and completed the associated works, resulting in a happy customer and happy building control officer.
Another example was an ill fitted bathroom suite, with the waste pipe running the wrong way, causing a leak in the bathroom. Again SJP Builders rectified the fault leaving a happy customer who has since passed more work our way. These are just two instances, we have too many stories to list here.
We know that many tradesmen do not want to get involved in putting right work done badly by other people. That is a perfectly reasonable approach to take. However, we take a different view. Given our expertise and many years experience, we have the confidence to take on any remedial work and put right work however badly done by cowboys.
If you have been cheated by rogue traders and don’t know where to turn, feel free to call SJP Builders and have it put right by professional, reliable tradesmen.
