SJP Building Services friends and marketing partners Chelmsford Roofline Ltd are an Essex based company specialising in the installation of fascias, soffits, bargeboards, boxboards, guttering and downpipes. Chelmsford Roofline have returned to the partner pages of our website with a new article telling of the advantages of weatherboard cladding.
Weatherboard cladding – sometimes referred to as clapboard or bevel siding – has been used in many parts of the world for generations. It is common to see in the UK, particularly in coastal counties like Essex, where high salt content water spray can be especially damaging to brickwork and mortar.
Weatherboard cladding is used to protect exposed brickwork from the elements. Traditional weatherboard was made from wood but to remain effective, timber weatherboard has to be treated and painted on a regular basis. Chelmsford Roofline use Cedral Weatherboard from Marley Eternit. Cedral Weatherboard is manufactured from fibre cement – a combination of wood cellulose, synthetic fibres & cement – which will not warp, rot, shrink or crack. Fibre cement has a ‘0’ fire rating and is impervious to insect attack.
Cedral Weatherboard is available in a choice of 22 pre-applied colours and wood effect finishes, while natural fibre cement can be painted in any colour you choose. Chelmsford Roofline offer the choice of shiplap weatherboard in overlapping 10mm boards or the newer Cedral Click tongue and groove weatherboards.
Weatherboard cladding is a practical combination of style and colour that adds all round protection to the home. For more information on weatherboard cladding – or fascias, soffits and guttering – see the Chelmsford Roofline articles on our website or visit them at www.chelmsfordroofline.co.uk.
