SJP Builders undertakes all types of house extension and refurbishment / renovation building projects.
Typical examples of our refurbishment / renovation work include:
We are currently undertaking an increasing number of house extensions.
A typical example of a house extension project we have recently completed was a single storey extension to a house in Winstanley, Wigan. In this extension job we installed a bathroom, enlarged the kitchen, installed Velox roof windows, floor and wall tiling and a complete finish including painting.
For this house extension project we took down an old conservatory and built an extension to the house. The work involved taking out a dividing wall. This has made a huge difference to the house, giving the homeowner more usable space with room to use to relax all year round. The extension has also brought more light into the house.
Steel lintels were used to support the roof and we engaged a structural engineer to do the loading calculations.
We dug the footings and laid a new concrete base. We also built the traditional sloping timber roof and installed four heavy duty roof lites. Structural engineering calculations were required for the roof construction also, because of the weight of the roof lights – 100 kg each.
We installed a new electrical ring main as the old one couldn’t carry the additional electrical facility required. We also re-routed the plumbing for the radiators.
All walls were re-plastered and we installed real wood flooring, decorative plastic skirting and coving with mood lighting set into it.
Externally we finished outside by flagged all around the extension with Indian Stone.
